Thunder Almost Over
The areas that saw record rainfall Tuesday morning have been spared for the most part from the heavy rain once anticipated last night. A big batch of showers and storms have moved through the viewing area over the past five hours, but the intensity of the rain has been relatively low. The thunder threat has decreased significantly. A few showers are still possible over the next couple of hours, but heavy rain is not expected. The Chicago-Rockford Airport has picked up about a quarter of an inch of rain since midnight. The flash flooding threat has diminished significantly. Once the sun rises, the daytime hours on this Thursday should be mostly dry, which should mark the start of a much more tranquil weather pattern for the weekend. -ADAM

well, apparently it doesnt show on radar, in downtown rockford, and here in loves park, up to machesney park, we just had a pretty decent shower. enought to wet the roads and run the wipers full blast. it was a low cloud deck, but it did produce rain.
It must have been a very low cloud mass, because the radar beam skimmed right over the top of it and totally missed it. Unless there are a couple more rogue showers lying low, the rest of the day looks pretty dry.

i think that is what happened. it was a low dark cloud mass like we had all morning. but it was enough to produce pretty good rain. nothing torrential, but just enough to run the wipers and the roads were very wet and full of puddles. this is tony in loves park by the way. i couldnt figure out how to use my blogger name without trouble,so i just post under anonymous.
Thanks for the report and thanks for staying active. You can always throw your name at the bottom of your post like I do. That way we know you are still alive and kicking!
