La Nina coming back?

A La Nina may be developing! "While we can't officially call it a La Nina yet, we expect this pattern will continue to develop during the next three months" said Mike Halpert, acting deputy director of the Climate Prediction Center in Camp Springs, MD.

La Nina refers to the periodic cooling of ocean surface temperatures in the central and east-central equatorial Pacific that occur every three to five years.

What does La Nina mean for us? Not nearly as much as El Nino means, that's for sure! In the Upper Midwest, La Nina winters typically were warmer than average with higher precipitation than average. To read more about the new report, click here. -ERIC
