Oklahoma can't catch a break!

Heavy Snow Warnings are now in effect for Central Oklahoma with thousands still without power after last weekend's ice storm! Anywhere from 6-12 inches of snow is possible from the panhandle of Texas into the Sooner State.

Winter Storm Warnings will likely be issued for parts of Illinois too! If you have travel plans to any of the areas shaded, please monitor the road and weather conditions.

I talked with my daughter (in Tulsa, OK) last night. Her apartment has been without power for 4 days.

She said the trees that had lost all their leaves before the (last) ice storm hit look like they might survive, but any trees that still had any leaves on them are probably goners. There are trees split right in half with many large trees still obstructing roadways.

Many traffic lights still are not functioning either, making travel difficult.

Most people's food has spoiled (including hers) and she said she had to spend "the better part of a morning calling around" to find someplace that was open that had groceries for sale.

There are still critical businesses (dr offices, etc.) that don't have phone service or power turned back on yet.

Honestly, it does seem for the most part that whenever a major storm hits the US, the rockford area seems to always be spared the brunt. I probably won't even keep track of this storm since we won't get much. Looks like no big snow then a major warmup. I still hope we have a white xmas.

I just looked at some models thru xmas, and I am not an expert at reading these models, but as of today it is showing a pretty big storm winding up for next saturday but it looks like as if rockford would be on the northern fringe of it. Eric, adam, or gretchen, if u can confirm at what I am looking at, I would appreciate it. Looks like the low would develop in texas then move thru central illinois near springfield. we will have to see.
