Local rivers and streams can't really deal with too much rain since they're already high or flooding. However, the next few days will not provide any relief.Gulf moisture is en route to northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. A front currently draped right over Rockford will slowly nudge southward and then just sit around. That moisture will ride up and over the front and lead to rain. Jo Daviess, Carroll, and Stephenson Counties are currently under a Flood Watch since river levels will probably rise back up again over the next several days. Any outdoor plans on Friday look like they're going to be washed out, and Saturday's not looking very hopeful, either.
Hopefully the sunshine and quick temperature boost was as much of a pleasant surprise to you as it was to me. Cooler weather is lurking very close by, though. Monroe is at 57 and Dubuque is at 53 as of 10 a.m.

well, what a surpise today was! Just as nice as yesterday without the crazy wind! I was expecting the 49 with the cool NE breeze. I should of chose today to go golfing instead of yesterday, as the wind hindered my golf score (hey, I have to blame it on SOMETHING.) aha.
its amazing that only a couple (hundred) miles of the front can mean such a huge temp difference.
Today's weather has totally boggled my mind. We've managed to barely stay on the "right" side of the front in a fairly narrow band of sunshine. As annoyed as I am at the busted forecast, I can take solace in knowing that nobody else saw it coming, and that it turned out to be beautiful!
Although I think we originally were shooting for 49 tomorrow, not today.
