The Quad Cities are under severe thunderstorm warnings as a cluster of storms has developed in eastern Iowa and is pushing eastward. They've been producing hail generally up to about an inch in diameter in some locations.

We'll keep track of these over the next couple hours - they'll be running into drier air as they get closer to I-39. I would expect that to cause the storms to weaken. However, as dry air gets pulled into the storms, there'll be quick evaporation and cooling, so locally high wind gusts will be possible.

If warnings are issued for the WREX viewing area, we'll be on the case.

im tracking soem storms, and one cell is indicating some rotation!

We're not seeing any signs of rotation in these storms.

im using the wifr weateh thing, and it showed, some rotation, so maybe its a glitch!

WIFR? That's your first problem. ;)

That's using algorithms that can have false alarms. I'm manually determining rotation.

I thought the storms were gonna wait 'til later. I went for a hike at Castle Rock State Park in Oregon and got caught in a hail storm. Pea size or bigger. No pics of the hail but got some video and cloud pics.
