Remnants of Gustav to bring significant rain to Illinois

Tropical Depression Gustav is centered over Longview, Texas this afternoon. The center of circulation (while weakening) will move north to Ft. Smith, Arkansas by Wednesday afternoon before heading into Central Illinois. Showers and thunderstorms will increase for our area during the day on Thursday with some heavy rainfall possible. Our ExacTrack computer model is forecasting 0.90" of rain for Rockford with higher amounts south. Other reliable computer models are in the 1-4 inch rains which would yield a flash-flood potential. Will continue to monitor however tropical downpours seem likely for at least Thursday.

hey eric, since we haven't had any severe weather around here in quite some time, will the chat also be open during major snow events, or is it just severe storms only. I miss the chat.
